Let me start at the beginning. As a girl I looked forward to receiving my Highlights magazine in the mail each month. With great anticipation I would quickly turn to the page that had items hidden within a bigger picture. You know, the jungle scene where you had to find the baseball bat that was hidden in the elephant's trunk. Oh, how I loved these and the cleverness I felt when I found them all! Ever since then I have always found myself looking at the world around me and noticing everyday objects that resemble other things (especially alphabet letters). I see them everywhere in everything. Like on Sesame Street when they show the letter S and then it transforms into a snake and slithers away. So it was natural that born out of my love for games, namely hidden picture puzzles and scavenger hunts, and my infatuation with photography came CharacterStyles. Simply put, CharacterStyles is a original piece of artwork displaying images to form a word or words. However, the catch is that the letters have been 'found'. They weren't meant to be letters, but I have seen and captured them as such.
Above is an example of CharacterStyles made as a wedding gift for a couple whose last name is Pillai. While I wasn't the gift giver, I did hear that the newlyweds were quite taken with this thoughtful gift and proudly display it in their home.
CharacterStyles are a wonderful addition to any space. They can be used to spell names, places, words, professions, sports, simple phrases such as 'I love you' - practically whatever you desire.
100% of the images were taken by me with very little or no altering. CharacterStyles are printed in black and white on archival 4X6 photo stock. They can be ordered a couple of ways. With option #1 the images are placed under a double mat surrounded by a black wood frame along with the hardware for hanging. With option #2 they are positioned in individual glass frames that I have carefully joined together and rested on a couple of wire easels to be placed on any flat surface. However, possibilities are endless so I am open and willing to accommodate custom orders. I do not sell the images alone.
I am in the process of constructing a full website complete with a gallery of multiple images for every letter of the alphabet with some extra characters thrown in for fun. In the meantime call or email me because I would love to give you a preview and discuss the possibility for your very own CharacterStyles.
